A solution of 5-bromoisoindolin-1-one (2.0 g, 9.4 mmol) , N, N-dimethylpyridin-4-amine (0.23 g, 1.9 mmol) and di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (2.47 g, 11.3 mmol) in DMF (20 ml) was stirred at ambient temperature for 2 h. Water (100 mL) was then added and the mixture was extracted with EtOAc (3×30 mL) . The combined organic fractions were washed with brine (3×10 mL) , dried (Na2SO4) , filtered and the solvent evaporated under reduced pressure.
