3-(1,3-Dioxoisoindolin-2-yl)propanal (2.5 g, 12.3 mmol) was dissolved in 80 mL of DCM. (1ethoxycarbonylethylidene)triphenylphosphorane (4.50 g, 12.9 mmol) was added thereto, and the mixtue was stirred at room temperaturefor 2 hours.
