To a stirred suspension of indolin-2-one (LIII, 4.0 g, 27.0 mmol) in acetonitrile (160 mL), N-bromosuccinimide (6.24 g, 35.1 mmol) was added portion-wise at 0C under nitrogen atmosphere and then stirredfor 3 h at 15-20 C.
