To a solution of 1,3-Dihydro-indol-2-one (20 g, 133.15 mmol) in acetonitrile (300 ml) at 0 C. was added NBS (30.76 gm, 173.8 mmol) in several portions and the solution stirred at this temperature for 3 h.
