5-bromoisoindolin-1-one (1.00 g; 4.63 mmol; 1.00 eq) dissolved in a mixture of THF (25.00 ml) and DMF (4.50 ml) was added to a suspension of sodium hydride (60% dispersion in mineral oil, 185 mg; 4.62 mmol; 1.00 eq) and tetrabutylammonium iodide (349.0 mg; 0.92 mmol; 0.20 eq) in THF (23.00 ml).
